2020 has been hard for everyone. For those who have lost someone in 2020, my heart is with you. We collectively lost greats like Olivia de Havilland, Orson Bean, Wilford Brimley and Chadwick Boseman. But I don’t want to focus on the negativity, what divides us. Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, we are coming back stronger than ever. I can’t say that 2021 will be easier for everyone, but I’m hoping we can take some time to breathe and heal. Remember that above all, we survived what at times felt like a hellscape.
I want to thank everyone who visited the site this year. Over 25k people have visited ClassicBlondes in 2020 alone. Some of you have been here from the beginning, while others are new friends. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate all of you. I don’t post nearly as much as I should, but you’re all here for the ride. For those who have purchased things from my affiliate store, I give you a heartfelt thank you. You’re what allows me to pay for this site, and every penny truly does count. I started this site in 2016 as a place for me to talk about Old Hollywood blondes. It has now expanded into covering films from a variety of genres, and I’m consistently amazed that enough people care about what I write to visit.
I do have some good news for 2021 that I hope you are as excited about as I am:
I’m releasing my second book on Jayne Mansfield. Unlike my previous book, this one will feature 600 photos of Jayne from her life in a beautiful coffee table format. This will be the first photo book on Jayne in over 30 years, and I hope it brings you as much joy as it has me. Look for it this summer.
I’m also happy to announce that I am launching a subscription box service in May as well for those who enjoy film and books as much as I do. You will have two options when purchasing: a family box and an adult version. I don’t want to give too much away right now, but I think you guys will enjoy what’s inside. I will say, everything is physical media. This allows you to expand your film library and never have to worry about what can possibly happen if a streaming service goes under. I’m not technologically opposed to digital ownership, but I myself like having physical copies if something goes out of print or is just unavailable.
I’m also working on a new project for horror aficionados with Dominic Buono. This book will track horror from its beginnings in silent film to the present day as well as dissecting the appeal of the genre. This is my first foray into something that’s not focused on Old Hollywood blondes, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Finally, I’m dedicating myself to more activity on this site. I owe it to both you and myself. Make sure to check back weekly for new posts and updates. I have some great plans for 2021, and I hope to see all of you back here next year. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything you guys do for me! It truly is a rewarding to see you on here.
